Nikon D5
The Nikon D5 is my new favourite camera and I’m proud to be the ambassador for Nikon’s new flagship DSLR.
Announced at CES in January 2016, its next-generation 153-point AF system offers exceptionally wide coverage and the highest expanded sensitivity in Nikon’s history with an extended ISO range of up to 3,280,000.
I first tried it on a race circuit in Spain, shooting motorbikes speeding around the track. In situations like this, a sports photographer relies on a fast AF system to get the shot. The camera felt very natural in my hands. Many of my photographer friends are keen to get their hands on one!
Nikon D4
The Nikon D4 is another great camera, and is one of my spares when I am not using the Nikon D5.
Again, this is a high speed, multifunctional camera which has great autofocus and advanced scene recognition features.
Nikon D4s
The Nikon D4S is fantastic because of its speed and expanded ISO range, making the camera a master of the dark as well as the light. It also has an advanced autofocus which is key when shooting sports.
AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR
The Nikon 400mm lens is perfect for sports photography because of its fast autofocus system and sports vibration reduction mode, which allows you to take fantastic quality images.
AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED
This lens is great because of its ultra-wide zoom which allows you to get close to the subject but also include the whole setting, again really important when shooting sports.
AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
This lens has a fantastic zoom which provides a beautiful, sharp image.
AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
This is the one of the best midrange telephoto zoom lenses I have used, it has a fantastic autofocus which is extremely handy when shooting fast moving subjects and creates sharp images.
