The D850 shoots at 7 fps with the body only. And you can shoot at 9 fps when using the optional MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack with the EN-EL18B battery (used in the D5) inserted. The sensor’s gapless on-chip lens architecture and fast EXPEED 5 engine ensure exceptional detail, incredible dynamic range, and rapid processing. You can shoot 14- or 12-bit lossless compressed/uncompressed RAW (size Large) images in one high- speed burst. And the image sensor delivers enough resolution for 8K outdoor signage.

The camera’s flexible Multiple Exposure function enables up to 10 shots at up to 9 fps (when shooting with the optional MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack). You can shoot at this rate no matter which file size or format you use. Individual images captured, and the overlay image, can be confirmed during shooting. And you can delete and reshoot the final image to attain the strongest finishing shot. It’s also possible to select one RAW (L) image as the first image of the overlay. And all images shot in Multiple Exposure mode are saved individually, so you can pull out lead shots for other purposes. Four different overlay modes—Add, Average, Lighten, and Darken—give you additional flexibility.

The 8 cm (3.2 in) 2359k-dot tilting LCD monitor lets you operate the Crop Size Setting function via touch controls when you shoot in Live View . The high-resolution, high-contrast display ensures precise confirmation of details such as facial expressions and muscle definition. You can easily swipe back and forth when reviewing images and double-tap a portion of any image to see a 100 % view of the image area. The Crop Size Setting menu, also accessible in Live View via the i button, makes it simple to resize and send images to clients on the spot.
