Born in the Czech Republic, George Karbus is an award-winning wild ocean photographer, surfer and free-driver who has lived in Lahinch, a small town located on the west coast of Ireland, for over 15 years.
George specialises in photographing large ocean mammals such as whales and dolphins, and travels around the globe capturing the underwater world and its remarkable creatures.
Since taking up photography, George has worked on a number of commercial projects for the likes of the BBC and Red Bull, and has been featured in countless books, magazines and newspapers across the world including The Irish Times and The Daily Telegraph.
George’s work has won him a wealth of accolades to date, including finalist at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards (2017), overall winner at the British Wildlife Photography Awards (2013) and overall winner at the Outdoor Photographer of the Year Awards (2010).
